Re: 166 2,5 V6 - Sportronic
Hi 166 fans. I'm strugling to get the computer to communicate with the ob2 unit ELM327. This is the unit I bought from Ebay:
http://vod.ebay.com/vod/FetchOrderDetails?transid=1648093690007&itemid=170838949069&qu=1&ul_noapp=true
and the adapter:
http://vod.ebay.com/vod/FetchOrderDetails?transid=1345340158020&itemid=302086987167&qu=1&ul_noapp=true
I've downloaded the Multieuscan 3,3 and 3,4 to be sure.
I'cant find an usb software that communicate with the computer. I've tried on a Windows XP computer, and a Windows 10.
What type of combinations is working for you who is using ELM 327? (computer - softwate - ELM327) The job is to erase airbag codes. from my 166 and my 156 Busso machines.

Re: 166 2,5 V6 - Sportronic
I'm 99,9% sure that the free version of Multiecuscan doesn't support airbag modules. If you want to connect to the airbags, you have to purchase the license.
As can be seen in the second red alinea here: http://www.multiecuscan.net/SupportedVehiclesList.aspx

Re: 166 2,5 V6 - Sportronic
Ok, you are probably right about the free license limitations. shame, the Multieuscan program seems professional.
But: the big still remain open.
What do you use to read out errors and delete them?
* a paid license multieuscan?
* or another program that fits the ELM327?
* or a completely different method? (other solution than actually buy a proper workshop diagnose tool for several thousand EUR)
What do you 166 fans use for this purpous? I hope there is a solution.
Best regards Atle, Norway

Re: 166 2,5 V6 - Sportronic
I used multiecuscan, before I misplaced my OBD cable.
I tried other programs too, but the free ones are all similar. I am considering getting a license if I happen to find the cable again. Because the 166 contains so many ecu's and it helps so much with diagnosis.

This one used to work for me with MultiEcuScan but it doesn't work with Windows 10 atm. Still have to look into that

Re: 166 2,5 V6 - Sportronic
Thanks for helping me to understand this. So if I understand you right, there is nobody at this forum that have found a fully working solution for free? you have to buy a license of Multieuscan and you have to find a way that the ELM327 can communicate with a modern computer with windows 10. So there is not one but 2 problems.
Anybody who knows what the professionals is using? Fiat workshops? I'm thinking if there will be used ones at Ebay or something?

Re: 166 2,5 V6 - Sportronic
Hi 166 lovers
I sold my 166 in October 2018, sadly, and I regret selling it. Drove it for 12 years! And I miss the car. So there is an agreement between me and the man who bought it, that I can buy the 166 back in spring 2020, splendid!!
The car is still in exelent condition, despite 272.000km. I bought it in 2006, and then it had gone just 68k. So its me that has put on the 200.000 km in 12 years.
We drove the 166 twice to Italy and last time in spring 2018. We then visited the Alfa Romeo Museo. I have a picture of the 166 outside the Museo. Looking forward to drive and own the 166 again

Nice Atle,
There is a saying in dutch that translates to "old love doesn't fade away"
I think that applies here

Re: 166 2,5 V6 - Sportronic
That is so true about my 166. Never should have sold a good 166. No point in doing that.
