Lewis Hamilton demoted to 3rd!!!

What a joke!!! He won that race and managed to keep his car on the track as Kimi spun off. It really gives the impression that the FIA are biased toward Ferrari! I love italian cars but this has really put me off F1 emoticon

Re: Lewis Hamilton demoted to 3rd!!!

I'm a Ferrari man (Massa...) but I have to agree this punishment makes no sense. The rule is you have to give back positions you've won. Lewis did that, and then passed Kimi fair and square in the next opportunity he got. Kimi eliminated himself afterwards anyway, but you can even discuss if he was fair in 'letting Lewis live'. Lewis had two options: take the shortcut or crash them both out. He did the sensible thing, in my opinion. But me agreeing doesn't give him those points back. Aside from fairness, I still cross my fingers for Massa emoticon

Re: Lewis Hamilton demoted to 3rd!!!

The rule is that if you get off the track and pass someone by doing this, you have to let the other pass you clearly and give back the position. He did that, but only for 90%.
He slipstreamed and passed straight away, so still got some profit from his illegal action.

I think that McLaren gets more penalties today because the faster one is always the one that gets punished. If Raikonen was much faster than Hamilton, this incident would not have happened.
That you see this more this year than last year is because the rules get tighter every year.
Same with Kovalinen. He was faster, but overtook Webber in a stupid way, so gets punished. The days are over that everybody clears the road when Schumacher is in the mirror. There is much more competition today, so much less respect for seniority or for the leader in the championship.

That´s why since two years I like the MotoGP much better. There is much less politics involved and the drivers (most of them) respect each other. Stoner thinks he gets kicked of the road by Rossi in Laguna Seca, but a few weeks later he makes his apoligies for the responce and sais it was a racing incident. You will probably not hear Hamilton or Raikonen do this.

Kova's mistake was pretty obvious, yes. I think Coulthard also did some things to deserve a similar punishment this season, but I don't remember him getting it. For one thing we can't deny: too much politics are involved in F1.

I'm still thinking about the partial profit, not convinced yet that the punishment would have been the same if the roles Ferrari and McLaren were reversed emoticon Now the championship is very very tight again, the other way around Lewis would have had a reasonable advantage.

Re: Lewis Hamilton demoted to 3rd!!!

It is the same old story.
A race winner always lies under a magnafying glass.

But there are rules that has to be taken for real it seems now.

For me, a Ferrari fan, I can understand the anger of the British but I can live with the decision.....Better a Ferrari on 1 than an other.

I now, not quit sportsman like but McLaren will also protest the other way around.
There is nothing lost yet for Lewis. And the competition goes on this way. The gap is closing, tension is growing....for me, I love this season so far!

Re: Lewis Hamilton demoted to 3rd!!!

The F1 sport is developing in the wrong direction rapidly. Races are won by tactics in the pit or by protests like now with hamilton. If you are on pole position is not how fast you are, but how much petrol you carry. For the rest 90% of the race is a parade. The cars have developed so much and design rules have so much effect, that real racing gets rare. Only wet races are exciting - there the driver becomes important.
I fall asleep during most of the races (or is that me getting older emoticon )

MotoGP is real sport, where the driver can make the difference. Another point there offcoarse is that I always win. It´s eather Rossi or Ducati that wins!

In the past i visited many F1 races. But i have to admid that it is'nt anymore what it was before. And than i mean the whole happening. The diccision they made today is also a good example of whats wrong with F1.

Indeed a nice race. But Lewis pushed his contenders almost of the track at the end of the straight. Not once, but three times!

Great race by Vettel. He really deserved it.

Great victory by Torro Rosso, that's for sure!
And great to see that Sebastian Vettel all ready started to try to get back some of the records that Schumi has made his own.
Even some that Schumi never had! The youngest driver ever to have a poll position to be be a GrandPrix winner.

We need more rain, perhaps sometimes, for the good old times a dry race, but man, what a race and what conditions.

Great racing, even greater winner. We will here more of Sebastian in the near future.
